The geography of the post-pandemic housing boom, metro by metro.

By Muhammad Tahir · Updated 2026-06-15

Across the 292 metros CityLedger tracks with comparable data, the median home value climbed roughly 52.1% from 2019 to today — but the range is enormous, and where you bought mattered enormously.

Idaho Falls, ID led with a 92.9% jump, lifting its median home value to $410,400. The steepest gains cluster in the Sun Belt and Mountain West, where pandemic-era in-migration collided with limited new construction.
